IAU Circular No. 8574
VARIABLE STARS NEAR GALAXIES
Further to IAUC 8570, M. Baek and W. Li report the LOSSdiscovery of a variable star on unfiltered KAIT images taken onJuly 22.35 (at mag 15.6), 23.35 (mag 15.6), and 24.40 UT (mag 15.7).The variable star is located at R.A. = 21h43m32s.94, Decl. =+46o12'22".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 48".8 east and 108".9 southof the nucleus of UGC 11800. A KAIT image taken on July 16.36showed nothing at this position (limiting mag about 19.0). E. Lee and W. Li also report the LOSS discovery of a variablestar located 111".1 east and 9".7 north of the nucleus of MCG-04-35-5 on unfiltered KAIT images taken on July 25.19 (when thenew object was at mag 15.8) and 26.18 UT (mag 15.9). This secondvariable is located at R.A. = 14h43m35s.30, Decl. = -23o26'30".6(equinox 2000.0). A KAIT image taken on 2004 May 24.20 showednothing at this position (limiting mag about 19.0).

BRIGHTENED MIRA-LIKE VARIABLE IN M31
Ovcharov E. (SU, Sofia), Koleva N. (SU, Sofia), Kostov A. (IA, Sofia), Valcheva A. (SU, Sofia), Stanev I. (SU, Sofia), Georgiev Ts. (IA, Sofia), Nedialkov P. (SU, Sofia)
8.951 UT, 18.8m; 10.014 UT, 18.7m; 11.041 UT, 18.7m; 12.023 UT, 18.8m; 13.031 UT, 18.7m. Ничего не видно в тех же координатах на снимках полученых в июне 2004г (предельная зв. вел. 19.5m).
We report that the POINT-AGAPE Survey Mira variable No. 91772 in M31, has brightened to 1.4 mag above it's previously detected maximum about 20.1 mag in R band. We discovered an unusually bright star located at R.A. = 0h42m44s.49, Decl. = +41o03'43".6 (equinox 2000.0), which is 0".12 west and 0".12 south of the variable. Available R magnitudes from CCD images taken with the 50/70 cm Schmidt telescope at NAO Rozhen , Bulgaria: Sept. 8.951 UT, 18.8; 10.014 UT, 18.7; 11.041 UT, 18.7; 12.023 UT, 18.8; 13.031 UT, 18.7. Nothing visible at this position on images back to June 2004 (limiting mag about 19.5).

VARIABLE STAR NEAR UGC 3664
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
T. Puckett and G. Sostero report the discovery of an unknown
object (mag 18.1) on CCD images taken with a 0.50-m reflector at
Ellijay, GA, on Mar. 16.02 UT in the course of the Puckett
Observatory Supernova Search; the new object was confirmed at mag
18.1 by Puckett on Mar. 17.02 and is located at R.A. = 7h05m35s.65,
Decl. =+33o47'42".3 (equinox 2000.0), which is 26" east and 118"
south of the center of UGC 3664. A prediscovery image taken by J.
Newton on Mar. 5.15 at Portal, AZ, shows the new object at mag 17.3.
Nothing is visible at this location on images taken by Puckett on
Feb. 7 (limiting mag 19.0) and over the last six years (faintest
limiting mag 19.5). Also, nothing is visible at this location on
several Palomar Sky Survey plates (red, blue, and infrared)
spanning 1953 Nov. 11-1999 Nov. 9.
